Clausen Memorial Museum

About
The museum hosts about seven art shows each year featuring local and visiting artists, plus traveling shows. The permanent exhibit includes a working lighthouse lens, a Tlingit canoe, and the world record king salmon. The museum also houses 5,000 artifacts, 70,000 photographs and negatives and 200 archival collections. Museum gift shop features original and locally made art, fabric art and jewelry.

Duncan Cottage Museum

The Duncan Cottage Museum is located in Metlakatla Alaska and was built in 1891, the same year that our island became the Annette Island Indian Reserve through an Act of Congress. It is the oldest building in our community and the only building that has National Historic Site Status.

Haines Sheldon Museum

About
Preserving our past for the future: the Haines Sheldon Museum, an educational institution of the Haines Borough, is committed to collecting, preserving and interpreting the history, art and unique blending of diverse cultures within the Chilkat Valley region. Three exhibit galleries include a children's exhibit area, a small changing gallery, and a larger historical exhibit. Currently the historical exhibit focuses on 1850-1900 in the Chilkat Valley.

Historic Creamer’s Dairy Farmhouse (National Register of Places)

About
This Visitor and Nature Center was built in the historic dairy farmhouse after it was retrofitted in 1992 by volunteers and community donations. The non-profit “Friends of Creamer’s Field” started in 1991 and presents educational programs here throughout the year. They also offer “Camp Habitat,” a summer conservation camp, for children ages 4-11. The history of “Creamer’s Dairy” is documented inside this small museum. There is also information on the migratory birds that come through the refuge each year and our local wildlife. Guided nature walks are offered June 1- August 31, Mons-Sats at 10 AM and Weds at 6 PM, led by a trained naturalist. The historic dairy buildings and refuge are owned by the State of Alaska and managed by the Dept. of Fish and Game. There are year-round trails; one through the boreal forest is mostly a boardwalk. The refuge is open 24 hours a day all year and is a multi-purpose refuge.

Hope and Sunrise Historical and Mining Museum

About
The museum recalls the Turnagain Arm Gold Rush of 1896 and the development of Hope and the decline of Sunrise. It examines 1900 gold mining practices. The archive has over 1,000 artifacts and 3,000 photographs.
