Excerpt from the Director’s Letter:
The year 2023 was filled with important events like Advocacy Day in DC; an Institute of Museum
and Library Services (IMLS) convening; the bi-annual Foraker Summit where I saw a few of our
museum colleagues; a special event between the Smithsonian Institution and First Alaskans
Institute on building better relationships with Alaska Native communities; the Alaska Historical
Society conference, where I got to know a bit more about where Museums Alaska came from;
and a board retreat with Foraker to talk about our future. What is the future of Museums
Alaska? It’s a tough question, but we’re getting closer to an answer.
