Fall 2014 Reeder-Davies Grants

Announcing the Fall 2014 round of Reeder-Davies grants being offered by the Cook Inlet Historical Society:

There are two memorial grants being offered by the Society to encourage research and writing about the Cook Inlet area and Alaska.  The Brian Davies Memorial Grant for Alaska History supports creative projects and in-depth research that makes a significant contribution to the study of Alaska History.  Recipients of the John Reeder Memorial Travel Grant must be conducting research in a library or archives in Alaska.  Each grant is in the range of $400-$1,000.  Students, teachers, academic researchers, local historians, and others are encouraged to apply.

The deadline for submitting an application is October 31, 2014.  For details, please see this section of the Cook Inlet Historical Society’s website.

CIHS Press Release

The Cook Inlet Historical Society was established in 1955.  The Society is a private non-profit historical society focused on the Anchorage area.  The Society works to foster discussion, research, and publication of history and ethnography of Anchorage and the Cook Inlet region, as well as Alaska and its place in the Circumpolar North.  As a support group for the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, the Society holds regular meetings at the Museum.
