Angels Project

Each year since [YEAR], on the day preceding the pre-conference workshops of the Museums Alaska Annual Meeting, a group of volunteers get together to give the gift of their time helping a museum in need.

2017: Alaska Aviation Museum, Anchorage

In 2017, we are excited to announce this year’s pre-conference Angels Project at the Alaska Aviation Museum in Anchorage. Next year marks the Aviation Museum’s 30th Anniversary, and it also marks 30 years without an Archivist on staff (which means about thirty years of backlog). The museum is happy to host 6-8 volunteer Angels who will be helping out with AAM’s photo archives. Volunteers will help identify and organize collections groupings, get AAM pointed in the right direction for creating finding guides, and get them on the road toward managing a very large collection of slides, glass plates, photo negatives, and photographs. If there is enough interest, a second group will work on a collections based project.
